There is a nice place in New Brighton to spend some time relaxing, and that is New Brighton Beach. It took me about 40 minutes to cycle there from Richmond, where I was staying at the time. By car, it’s about 15 minutes, according to Google Maps. I wanted to see what the beach was like and breathe in some fresh air. So, let me briefly introduce New Brighton Beach.
New Brighton Beach

As you can see, it’s got a long, gently sloping beach where you can walk quite far out. I thought it was a great spot for family activities because the waves were calm, and there were playgrounds right in front of the beach, too.
I enjoyed watching people at the beach and energetic dogs running around off their leads. If you’re lucky, you might even be able to see wild sea lions!
New Brighton Pier

It is an iconic 300-metre-long pier at the beach. You can walk to the end of the pier and look out over the endless ocean. The view from the pier is more fascinating than from the beach.
The pier seems to be illuminated at night, so check it out if you have time.
New Brighton Library

After hanging out, pop into the library. There are seats by the windows that offer a nice ocean view. Reading quietly while looking at the beach is a lovely way to spend your time. Next to the library, there is also a café and a restaurant, so you can literally spend all day here!
I’d like to come back and enjoy swimming on a hot summer’s day. I can’t wait for summer as a beach freak! If you’re looking for a relaxing spot, I highly recommend heading to New Brighton Beach. You won’t be disappointed!
