When you’d like to escape somewhere chilly to get away from both the unpleasant humidity and heat of summer, where would you go?
I want to suggest Marunuma-Kogen as an option. It is located in Katashina-town, Gunma. It is popular for skiing in winter.
You can go to the point by either ropeway or hiking up, where there is Tenku-Cafe that you can enjoy snacks and drinks. It is based at an elevation of 2000 meters. There is also a natural “Ashiyu”footbath that It will help relieve the fatigue from hiking. The mountain stands just in front of you, which offers a spectacular view!
So here, it was moderate in temperature, but I still felt a bit hot because of the sunlight. Aside from that, I found it pleasant to be there. Unluckily, some clouds started to mask the peak of Mt. Nikkoshirane from the early afternoon, making it hard to see the summit. I was hoping for a clearer view.
if I had come a bit earlier, I might have also seen a nice vista from the viewpoint, created by the surrounding mountains. I wanted to see that…
